C&C | Branding and Web Design

My friends at C&C Flooring approached me about the possibility of redesigning their brand and building a website recently. Whilst catching up over a drink, a key bit of info got me thinking…

How has a business that’s been trading in Norwich for over 20 years survived without any sort of website!?

As much as web designers are led to believe it, the truth is that not every business out there needs (or wants) a website; other channels can create steady streams of new business too. Business listings, word of mouth and securing long term contracts can all contribute.

Why the need for a website now?

C&C have recently secured contracts with Carpetright and Tapi, two national suppliers, to install flooring for clients across East Anglia. Keen to reflect this news, and to help prepare them for a period of serious growth, C&C are looking to reinvigorate their brand and develop their first website.

A website would give C&C full control on how they showcase their services, a central place to drive new business as well as opening the door to SEO, remarketing and Google Ads as channels for the future.

Researching other designs for inspiration

Research and design

Once we had a list of requirements and a specification agreed, I was ready to start planning both the brand and layout of the website. Before jumping in with any design work, I spent a good deal of time researching websites of other flooring companies, analysing colour schemes, typefaces and design style for inspiration. I also referenced C&C’s old business cards, one of the only pieces of marketing collateral the team had:
