Coming up with new ideas for re-using old vinyl records, I realised one night that the centre circle of the LP could be a good space for pictures.
Alongside having a spare black and white frame in the house, I trialled the idea one Saturday afternoon and I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out for a first attempt.
Here’s how I made it:
– Secured a wooden jig and carefully cut the outline by hand
– Carefully removed the excess
– After sanding with a fine grit sandpaper, I printed out a recent picture on good quality photo paper and cut the same sized circle of the centre of the record with a swivel knife.
– Some double sided sticky paper later, plus the 32cm x 32cm frame, it was finished ready for wall mounting. Total make time: around 1 hour 30 minutes.
Here’s the finished first attempt:
– I also trialled it with two coats of silver enamel as an alternative.
