One of my favourite things about working in Norwich city centre is being able to ramble through new shops at midday when it’s quiet. No queuing, no space invaders and more time chatting to shop keepers about their stock, where they source it from and what new pieces they’ve got planned to get in. Here’s my top picks in January:
Inside out, Castle Mall – Upcycled side table from Amercian reg plates – £45 in the sale
All Saints Antiques, the church opposite John Lewis – Vintage neon Rock ‘N’ Roll sign, £400+
Norwich Art Shop, “All day long I dream about wheelying” – Ro B Art
Norwich Gift Emporium, Lower goat lane – by local photographer Gary Rayner.
Inside Out, Castle Mall – Classic Led Zeppelin canvas. Fiver in the sale for my bedroom wall.
Deco Days, St. Giles street – Antique Elcon fan and it’s fancy brasswork
And arguably best of the lot, discovered upstairs in the Norwich Art Shop, a fantastic Amy Winehouse piece by Benjamin S. Reynolds with some serious detailing.
Alongside this little collection, check out my own music-art and upcycling work in Norwich this month and to get in touch just drop me a tweet or Facebook message. Any shops I’m missing out on or need to check out in February? Where’s your favourite place for art and upcycling in Norwich? @seagersound
